HIP-HOP: Beyond Beats & Rhymes takes an in-depth look at manhood in rap music and
hip-hop culture--where creative genius, poetic beauty and mad beats collide with
misogyny, violence and homophobia.

Invited Speakers:
Spoken word artists Frederick "Hollywood" Delahoussey & Asali Devan

ITVS Community Cinema features monthly community screenings of upcoming Independent
Lens Films, co-presented with leading community organizations working on related issues.
All screenings feature a panel discussion, guest speaker or other audience engagement

ITVS Community Cinema is made possible with support from PBS, CPB, and New Orleans
Producing Partners - Ashé Cultural Art Center and the Charitable Film Network.

Enter the ITVS UthTV "Hip-Hop" Video Contest!

ABOUT THE CONTEST:
ITVS and Uth TV are teaming up to find the best hip-hop media piece
that
offers a positive social message.

Think you have something to say? Let's see it! Uth TV Members will rate the top 10 positive
hip-hop pieces and ITVS will choose the winner. A digital video camera goes to the winning
entry, so get in on this!

To enter:
1. Upload any type of media (video, audio, image, word) that offers a positive hip-hop message.
2. Go to your Profile and enter the Manage Media section.
3. Find the media you're entering and click on the "edit" icon to the right of the media.
4. Scroll to "Enter in a Contest" and use the pull-down to select "Beyond Beats and Rhymes Contest.
" Click "save changes."

There is no maximum number of entries per Member.
Contest closes March 1, 2007.

The winner will recieve a digital video camera, and will be selected by ITVS from among the top 10 entries,
as rated by the Uth TV audience.
